the tyranny of technology

Dollbear project due in 5 hours. Desperately racing against the clock and have spent the last hour rebooting my computer. Turn on, try to export movie, crash, turn on, do nothing, crash, turn on crash crash crash. Dollbear may in fact end up being a silent movie at this rate. Not going to panic just yet. When are the powers that be going to have the good sense to throw some money and resources in my direction? It appears I have run out of room on my mac and pc is about to have another crash. Goodness gracious... its going to hell in a hand-basket over here.

the clowns had it coming

Another 11pm - 730am stint on Dollbear's Tea Party. Dollbear couldn't take it anymore. The clowns got what was coming to them. Dollbear needed a cocktail, not only to reward herself for her efforts, but also to calm her fractious nerves. Tomorrows task will be adding sound. Z?

dollbear's tea party - a work in progress

The sun is well and truly up and the birds are beginning to sing.... time for the animators to go to bed. Another nocturnal effort... worked mainly on editing and post-production animation effects. Zzzzzzzz.

mouth full of razor blades

Seem to be healing remarkably well from my the wisdom extractions. No swelling, no bruising, not too much pain. I'm paranoid about food getting stuck in the wounds and I can't stop prodding and poking at the crevasses where my teeth used to be, which of course irritates them and causes the pain to shoot through my head and my mouth to swell, which in turn inflates my hypochondria and leads to more prodding and poking. Just leave it alone ingrid. None the less, I am still in awe of my shiny new white front teeth.

before and after dentist

Good fun adventure trip to the dentist to have bones pulled out of my head. Take drugs then take photos. Starting to feel dopey but happily so - so far. Was interesting to see dental instruments in action and not in some dusty box lot at the auction.

dollbear's tea party

Up all night working on stop motion animation "Dollbear's Tea Party". In a desperate bid to make friends and socialise, Dollbear invites the Dollclowns over for a tea party and a game of scrabble. Civility only lasts so long in Dollbear's house and events soon take a turn for the worst. Nine hours work for 46 seconds of footage. No wonder so few people are interested in making animations.

tarrawarra art museum

Today Chiara and I went on an adventure to Tarrawarra Museum of Art and saw an installation by Charles Anderson " A House for Hermes #01: The House of my Father ". Sadly the rest of the museum was closed for rehanging. Beautiful day for a drive though.

cutting and pasting with tim

Inspired by the recent acquisition of Amy Sedaris's book I Like You: Hospitality Under The Influence Tim and I got out the coloured paper and scissors. The results were not spectacular, and we soon moved on to inventing a new version of tennis involving bubbles.

in the realms of the unreal

Watched the 2004 documentary "In the Realms of the Unreal" about henry darger, and outsider artist who I knew nothing about before today. "Henry Darger (1892 - 1973) was a reclusive American writer and artist who worked as a janitor in Chicago, Illinois. He has become famous for his posthumously discovered 15,145-page fantasy manuscript called"The Story of the Vivian Girls, in What is known as the Realms of the Unreal, of the Glandeco-Angelinnian War Storm, Caused by the Child Slave Rebellion", along with several hundred drawings and watercolor paintings illustrating the story.[2] Darger's work has become one of the most celebrated examples of outsider art." Well worth watching.

wire sculptures

Today we went on a trip to the scrap metal yard in search of copper wire for an animation I am currently working on. I was happy as a pig in mud amoungst the rust and rubbish. This is my first creation from the haul. More photos can be seen here.

melting dinosaurs

Tim came over and inevitably asked if i had anything he could melt in the fire. In went the plastic prehistoric and farm animals. We decided to make it more exciting by adding some sparklers as well.

what i did yesterday

This is my first attempt at creating a camera obscura in my bedroom. By taping up the curtains to make the room light tight and then making a small opening to let light through, this image was projected onto the wall. You can see the house across the street and some power lines. This image has been rotated, as the original projection is inverse. I need to experiment more to get a crisp image.

what i did today

An experimental excercise in image manipulation to get my head moving in a new direction. Created from six individual images.
