new camera

The treat for today was a new camera. Canon Ixus 70. I feel more like myself again with a camera in my pocket to document such things as my drinking straw and what i eat for dinner... Snapper. Yum. I love culinary night.

vodka, oil sticks and a long night alone

Not sure if it is due to the vodka or the concussion but I don't remember too much of last night's artistic endevours. But when i woke up this is what i found. Additionally, there was a note on the kitchen table where I made several apologies to Chiara for getting blue paint all over Hank, her cat.

badges

The new shipment of badge bits has arrived and I am happily back in the swing of my sweatshop. If only I could make a living out of badges I would be a happy girl.

concussion - how to get your head slammed in a car door

Today's shopping trip to Preston Market quickly dissolved into a slapstick comedy when Chiara accidentally slammed my head in the car door. I was bending over to put groceries into the back seat as Chiara, rushing because of the rain, got into the front passenger seat and slammed the door. Unfortunately my head was in the way. Fortunately the resulting concussion meant that I barely felt a thing. I saw a lot of stars and then fell about in hysterics. You couldn't have staged a more stupid accident if you tried. Now I have large bumps on both sides of my head, but sadly no spectacular bruising... just a dull ache and a funny dinner time conversational piece.

our french exchange student

Chiara and i are learning the joys of motherhood (or at least guardianhood) with our French exchange student Eliott. For the two months that he is staying with us we need to ensure he is well fed, warm enough, and not getting mixed up with 'the wrong crowd'. It is more fun than I anticipated. He is adapting well to our way of life and makes our house feel more like a home (or a half-way house). Here are two photos of him. He doesn't usually tuck his jumper into his pants... it's just that I asked him to 'look French'. The other photo, of him in front of the computer, is Eliott in his more natural state.

daniel flies the coop

Daniel is finally on the big silver bird heading for Russia. I am a proud (and slightly worried) little sister. So it is just Lester and Manky rattling around Rancho Brooker for the next month.

c31 animation competition - third prize

A few nights ago a rare event occurred. The phone rang... and I actually answered. My fear of talking on the phone was quickly allayed when the woman at the other end began telling me that I had won third prize of the Channel 31 Ident animation competition. Fabulous news. They gave me some money and said some nice things about me on the Friday morning Breakfast Show and will have my ident on rotation for the next two years.

pigsty |ˈpigˌstī|

My room got too messy even for me. Having handed in all my assignments and indulging in my first proper sleep in weeks there were no more excuses to live in this level of grot. Here are the before and after shots. Perhaps I should have made a sequel to "Mess Consumes My Life" - the Fairfield version.

dollbear's tea party pilot episode

Success! I have accomplished in the space of one week what we were assigned 14 weeks to complete at school. The pilot episode of Dollbear's Tea Party is now finished and here for your viewing pleasure. Though far from what I imagined, I am rather chuffed with the results. Any comments would be appreciated.
