ready to start animating!

Something in the order of 180 hours work between the first reading of the script and here. I am finally ready to start animating! So exciting!

take two

The first round of silicone models were fraught with problems that I had not anticipated. The silicone was so thick around some parts the models couldn't bend or hold their position. I had to butcher them to retrieve the armatures and give it another crack. Success! Lucky... because the mould broke so there was no chance of another go. Anna is making miniature costumes which are looking mighty fine. My aunts are busy making oversized pin-cushions and miniature tropical islands. I'm lucky I have such talented and generous friends and family to help me with this project. Thanks everyone. :)

out of the mould

I was so excited that the silicone moulds set properly... but then I was struck by a host of new problems to solve. Will have to take to them with the scalpel. Sometimes you get the bear...sometimes the bear gets you.

casting silicone

After 50 hours of work to create these animation models, everything hinges on the successful casting of silicone.... and I have to wait 24 hours to find out! The suspense is killing me.
